Dr. Ziyad Tariq Allawi, the Director of the Postgraduate Studies Division in the College of Engineering and a lecturer in the Department of Computer Engineering at the University of Baghdad, gave a virtual seminar entitled “A New Criterion for Seeing the Crescent Based on Artificial Intelligence” at eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 9th. -6-2023 sponsored by the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences on the Zoom platform. The topic of the seminar discussed how to harness artificial intelligence to see the crescent, based on a number of astronomical standards within this field, and how to reach a unified astronomical standard to determine the sighting of the newborn crescent within scientific efforts by astronomers. The seminar was attended by a number of people interested in this subject because of its importance in our current era.
