She defended her thesis entitled <em>\u201cDetection of Desertification Changes in Wasit Governorate Using Geospatial Technologies\u201d<\/em> at <strong>Professor Fawzi Al-Khalisi Hall<\/strong>, under the supervision of <strong>Professor Dr. Hussein Sabah Jaber<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The study aimed to monitor desertification changes in <strong>Wasit Governorate<\/strong>, which covers an area of <strong>17,889.09 km\u00b2<\/strong>, over a period of <strong>24 years (2000\u20132024)<\/strong>, using <strong>remote sensing<\/strong> and <strong>Geographic Information Systems (GIS)<\/strong> techniques.<\/p>\n<p>The research involved processing satellite images from <strong>Landsat 5 TM (2000)<\/strong> and <strong>Landsat 8\u20139 OLI (2024)<\/strong> using <strong>ENVI v5.3<\/strong> and <strong>ArcGIS 10.8<\/strong> software. A <strong>Land Use\/Land Cover (LULC)<\/strong> classification was performed using a <strong>supervised classification approach with the Maximum Likelihood Classifier (MLC)<\/strong> to produce thematic maps for five classified categories within the study area: <strong>vegetation cover, water bodies, urban areas, saline areas, and barren lands<\/strong>.
