The delegation was headed by <strong data-start=\"399\" data-end=\"434\">Prof. Dr. Falih Hassan Mohammed<\/strong>, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and included <strong data-start=\"506\" data-end=\"543\">Assoc. Prof. Dr. Karim Hassan Ali<\/strong>, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department; <strong data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"624\">Prof. Dr. Issam Mohammed Ali<\/strong> from the Mechanical Engineering Department; and <strong data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"721\">Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruwaida Qaisar Abdul-Majeed<\/strong> from the Petroleum Engineering Department.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"766\" data-end=\"1264\">The delegation took part in the <strong data-start=\"798\" data-end=\"936\">17th International Conference on Oil and Gas Pipeline and New Energy Safety and the Conference on Hydrogen Energy Industry Development<\/strong>, held in Beijing from <strong data-start=\"959\" data-end=\"985\">26 to 28 November 2025<\/strong>, under the title:<br data-start=\"1003\" data-end=\"1006\" \/><strong data-start=\"1006\" data-end=\"1147\">\u201cThe 17th International Conference on Oil and Gas Pipeline and New Energy Safety and Conference of Hydrogen Energy Industry Development.\u201d<\/strong><br data-start=\"1147\" data-end=\"1150\" \/>The conference was jointly organized by the <strong data-start=\"1194\" data-end=\"1221\">China Petroleum Society<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"1230\" data-end=\"1263\">China University of Petroleum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1266\" data-end=\"1720\">The conference discussed the latest scientific developments in the transportation and storage of natural gas and reviewed the most advanced technologies used worldwide. It brought together a distinguished group of researchers from various countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Sudan, and others, with the aim of exchanging expertise and expanding horizons of scientific cooperation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1722\" data-end=\"2119\">The delegation from the College of Engineering contributed <strong data-start=\"1781\" data-end=\"1807\">four scientific papers<\/strong> addressing advanced topics in the oil and energy sector. <strong data-start=\"1865\" data-end=\"1891\">Prof. Dr. Falih Hassan<\/strong> presented a paper on the effect of <strong data-start=\"1927\" data-end=\"1951\">Polyacrylamide (PAM)<\/strong> in reducing drilling fluid loss, demonstrating the material\u2019s effectiveness in controlling circulation loss and reducing formation permeability by up to <strong data-start=\"2105\" data-end=\"2118\">200 times<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2121\" data-end=\"2524\"><strong data-start=\"2121\" data-end=\"2154\">Assoc. Prof. Dr. Karim Hassan<\/strong> presented a paper entitled <strong data-start=\"2182\" data-end=\"2288\">\u201cThe Essential Role of Mechanical Engineering to Support and Enhance Oil and Gas Pipeline Technology,\u201d<\/strong> highlighting the pivotal role of mechanical engineering in supporting oil and gas pipeline processing technologies, as well as the laboratory and scientific capabilities available in the department to conduct various specialized tests.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2526\" data-end=\"2799\"><strong data-start=\"2526\" data-end=\"2558\">Prof. Dr. Issam Mohammed Ali<\/strong> presented a paper on the future of <strong data-start=\"2594\" data-end=\"2632\">hydrogen energy in the Middle East<\/strong>, discussing the opportunities available for regional countries to adopt green hydrogen projects and strengthen their position as a global hub for hydrogen production.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2801\" data-end=\"3162\">Meanwhile, <strong data-start=\"2812\" data-end=\"2860\">Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruwaida Qaisar Abdul-Majeed<\/strong> presented a paper on the <strong data-start=\"2886\" data-end=\"2946\">environmental and economic assessment of CIHP technology<\/strong> for in-reservoir hydrogen production during the extraction of heavy oil from the <strong data-start=\"3028\" data-end=\"3046\">Qayyarah field<\/strong>, explaining the role of this technology in reducing emissions, lowering costs, and improving extraction efficiency.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3164\" data-end=\"3949\">Prior to the conference, joint meetings were held between the delegation of the College of Engineering and the <strong data-start=\"3275\" data-end=\"3362\">Pipeline Technology and Safety Research Center at the China University of Petroleum<\/strong>, in implementation of the <strong data-start=\"3389\" data-end=\"3426\">Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)<\/strong> signed between the two sides. The meetings discussed mechanisms for transferring modern technology to Iraq and explored the possibility of establishing an <strong data-start=\"3582\" data-end=\"3613\">advanced specialized center<\/strong> at the College of Engineering \u2013 University of Baghdad for oil and gas pipeline processing.
