{"id":9141,"date":"2025-10-29T09:49:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T06:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=9141"},"modified":"2025-10-29T09:49:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T06:49:09","slug":"awareness-workshop-at-the-college-of-engineering-university-of-baghdad-explores-the-roots-of-violence-against-women-and-the-role-of-education-in-combating-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=9141","title":{"rendered":"Awareness Workshop at the College of Engineering \u2013 University of Baghdad Explores the Roots of Violence Against Women and the Role of Education in Combating It"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>As part of its awareness activities aimed at promoting human rights and rejecting extremism, the <strong>Human Rights Unit<\/strong> at the <strong>College of Engineering \u2013 University of Baghdad<\/strong> organized a workshop titled <strong>\u201cViolence Against Women as a Form of Behavioral and Intellectual Extremism\u201d<\/strong> on <strong>Monday, October 27, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop was presented by <strong>Dr. Shahad Ghalib Ali<\/strong>, faculty member at the <strong>College of Political Science, Al-Mustansiriyah University<\/strong>, and Director of the <strong>\u201cTaa\u201d Project<\/strong> at the <strong>Rawaq Baghdad Center<\/strong>, alongside <strong>Dr. Israa Abd Ali Kazem<\/strong>, Director of the <strong>Human Rights Unit<\/strong> at the <strong>College of Engineering \u2013 University of Baghdad<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop aimed to discuss <strong>violence against women<\/strong> as a manifestation of <strong>intellectual and behavioral extremism<\/strong>, highlighting its <strong>social and ideological roots<\/strong> and raising awareness about the dangers of discourses that justify or legitimize violence against women.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop included two main sessions:<br \/>\nIn the <strong>first session<\/strong>, <strong>Dr. Shahad Ghalib Ali<\/strong> addressed violence against women as a product of <strong>social and ideological patterns<\/strong> based on <strong>discrimination and inequality<\/strong>, emphasizing that addressing this phenomenon requires <strong>raising awareness, correcting misconceptions, and promoting a culture of equality<\/strong>. She also stressed the role of <strong>academic and media institutions<\/strong> in combating extremism directed toward women.<\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>second session<\/strong>, <strong>Dr. Israa Abd Ali Kazem<\/strong> discussed the <strong>role of education<\/strong> in countering extremist thought from intellectual, social, and human rights perspectives.
