{"id":8980,"date":"2025-10-15T09:20:56","date_gmt":"2025-10-15T06:20:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=8980"},"modified":"2025-10-15T09:20:56","modified_gmt":"2025-10-15T06:20:56","slug":"a-research-from-the-water-resources-engineering-department-at-the-university-of-baghdad-wins-first-place-in-the-national-competition-for-water-and-climate-challenges-solutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=8980","title":{"rendered":"A Research from the Water Resources Engineering Department at the University of Baghdad Wins First Place in the National Competition for Water and Climate Challenges Solutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad achieved a distinguished scientific accomplishment as the master\u2019s thesis of student <strong>Rusel Sabah Abdulwahab<\/strong> from the <strong>Department of Water Resources Engineering<\/strong> won <strong>first place<\/strong> in the <strong>National Competition for Water and Climate Challenges Solutions in Iraq (ITEX)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The competition was held under the <strong>patronage of the Prime Minister<\/strong>, supervised by the <strong>University of Baghdad<\/strong>, and organized in collaboration with the <strong>Office of the Prime Minister\u2019s Advisor for Scientific, Academic, and Artificial Intelligence Affairs<\/strong>, along with the <strong>Government Communication Team<\/strong> at the <strong>Prime Minister\u2019s Office<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The winning research, titled <strong>\u201cArtificial Intelligence-Based Optimization of Deficit Irrigation Strategies under Climate Change Conditions,\u201d<\/strong> was supervised by <strong>Prof. Dr. Mahmood Saleh Mahdi<\/strong> from the <strong>College of Engineering \u2013 University of Baghdad \/ Department of Water Resources Engineering<\/strong>, and <strong>Dr. Khalid Shamal Musheb<\/strong>, <strong>Director General of the General Authority for Irrigation and Reclamation Projects<\/strong> at the <strong>Ministry of Water Resources<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The competition\u2019s organization and judging committee included <strong>Prof. Dr. Dhia Jasim Kazem<\/strong>, <strong>Dean of the College of Artificial Intelligence Engineering<\/strong>, and <strong>Prof. Dr. Mahmood Saleh Mahdi<\/strong>, faculty member in the Department of Water Resources Engineering\u2014reflecting the spirit of scientific collaboration between the <strong>College of Engineering<\/strong> and the <strong>Ministry of Water Resources<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This achievement represents a <strong>fruitful collaboration<\/strong> between the College of Engineering and the General Authority for Irrigation and Reclamation Projects within the framework of a <strong>joint contract<\/strong> for the completion of the student\u2019s thesis topic.
