Prof. Dr. Moayad Khalil Ibrahim<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Thesis Objectives:<\/h3>\n<p>The study aimed to evaluate how <strong>preheating fuel gas<\/strong> impacts the efficiency of a Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP), fuel consumption, and CO\u2082 emissions compared to a conventional Simple Cycle Power Plant (SCPP).<\/p>\n<h3>Methodology:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A detailed simulation was carried out using <strong>Aspen HYSYS v14<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The model was designed to replicate both the standard SCPP and the advanced <strong>CCPP + FGPS<\/strong> system under identical conditions.<\/li>\n<li>A comprehensive comparison was made across key performance indicators such as thermal efficiency, net power output, specific fuel consumption (SFC), and CO\u2082 emissions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key Recommendations:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Transition to a Combined Cycle System (CCPP):<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Enhances production capacity and raises thermal efficiency (exceeding 50%).<\/li>\n<li>Improves operational reliability of the plant.<\/li>\n<li>Increases operational stability even during unexpected gas turbine trips (GT trips).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementation of a Fuel Gas Preheating System (FGPS):<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Preheating fuel gas to around 95\u00b0C improves combustion and reduces CO\u2082 emissions per kWh.<\/li>\n<li>Prevents failures and shutdowns caused by cold gas inflow.<\/li>\n<li>Minimizes load instability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Following the scientific discussion and evaluation by the defense committee, the student was <strong>granted a Master\u2019s degree in Energy Engineering<\/strong>, with best wishes for continued success in his academic and professional journey.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery interval=&#8221;3&#8243; images=&#8221;8708&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;] The College of Engineering \u2013 University of Baghdad held a public defense for master\u2019s student Saif Abdul-Razzaq Abbas &#8230; <a class=\"cz_readmore\" href=\"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=8706\"><i class=\"fa fa-angle-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><span>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0632\u064a\u062f<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":165,"featured_media":8709,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[37,31],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8706","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-energy-engineering","category-thesis"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 -
