Under the theme \u201cAdvancing Iraqi Journals Towards Excellence\u201d<\/em>, members of the Journal of Engineering<\/em>\u2014represented by Professor Dr. Nadia Adnan, Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Qusay Medhat, and Dr. Iman Munadhel\u2014participated in the first conference of editorial boards of Iraqi scientific journals, hosted by the University of Technology at the University Theater Hall on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.<\/p>\n

The conference was attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the Ministry\u2019s Deputy for Scientific Research Affairs, Professor Dr. Haider Abdul-Zahd, along with college deans, editors-in-chief of scientific journals, and members of their editorial boards.<\/p>\n

The conference aimed to enhance the quality of Iraqi scientific journals and expand their presence in international indexing databases, as well as to support international research partnerships and establish their status as credible platforms for scientific and intellectual dialogue. The participation of the Journal of Engineering<\/em> reflected its active role in the academic scene and reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to the development of the scientific publishing system and the advancement of Iraqi journals to a global level.<\/p>\n

In his speech, the Minister of Higher Education emphasized that the conference represents an important national platform to support Iraqi journals and strengthen their research presence. He pointed out that over the past three years, the Ministry has succeeded in consolidating quality standards and expanding the scope of scientific publishing, making Iraqi universities an active partner in the global education system.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister also delivered a lecture entitled \u201cIraqi Journals: A Journey of Development and Steps Toward Global Leadership\u201d<\/em>, in which he presented precise statistics on the number of accredited Iraqi journals, totaling 468, including 56 in engineering, 80 in medicine, and 201 in science. He noted that the number of Iraqi journals indexed in Scopus rose from 7 before 2022 to 42 at present\u2014a remarkable development compared to countries in the region.<\/p>\n

The conference also featured lectures by experts from Elsevier, Clarivate, the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, and ASF via Zoom, in addition to a panel discussion on mechanisms to improve the performance of Iraqi journals and strengthen their competitiveness at the international level.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”8683,8684″ img_size=”large” css=””][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
