{"id":8143,"date":"2025-05-09T21:11:51","date_gmt":"2025-05-09T18:11:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=8143"},"modified":"2025-05-09T21:11:51","modified_gmt":"2025-05-09T18:11:51","slug":"faculty-member-from-the-college-of-engineering-university-of-baghdad-participates-in-the-second-innovation-and-creativity-exhibition-and-receives-the-award-of-excellence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=8143","title":{"rendered":"Faculty Member from the College of Engineering \u2013 University of Baghdad Participates in the Second Innovation and Creativity Exhibition and Receives the Award of Excellence"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>Professor Dr. <strong>Abdullah Dhayea<\/strong>, faculty member in the <strong>Department of Mechanical Engineering \u2013 College of Engineering \u2013 University of Baghdad<\/strong>, participated in the <strong>Second Innovation and Creativity Exhibition<\/strong> with scientific research titled:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe Effect of Adding Yttrium Oxide Microparticles on the Wear Resistance of Aluminium Alloy AA5083\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The exhibition was held in conjunction with <strong>World Intellectual Property Week<\/strong>, on <strong>Tuesday, April 29, 2025<\/strong>, at <strong>Al-Ameed University<\/strong> under the supervision of the <strong>Al-Abbas&#8217;s Holy Shrine in Karbala<\/strong>. The study aimed to enhance the <strong>mechanical properties and wear resistance<\/strong> of <strong>AA5083 aluminum alloy<\/strong> by adding <strong>yttrium oxide (Y\u2082O\u2083) microparticles<\/strong> at various weight percentages (0%, 3%, 6%, and 9%), with particle sizes ranging from 40 to 60 micrometers. The composite materials were produced using the <strong>stir casting method<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key findings<\/strong> of the research include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>significant increase in hardness<\/strong> of the composite compared to the unreinforced alloy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Homogeneous distribution<\/strong> of yttrium oxide particles within the alloy&#8217;s microstructure.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>gradual reduction in wear rate<\/strong> with increasing reinforcement percentage, with the <strong>best performance observed at 9% by weight<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Recommendation:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe study recommends using 9 wt.% yttrium oxide microparticles to improve the wear resistance and mechanical properties of AA5083 aluminum alloy, especially in industrial applications requiring high performance under friction and wear conditions.<\/p>\n<p>At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Abdullah received a <strong>Certificate of Appreciation<\/strong> from the university president and was honored with the <strong>Award of Innovation and Excellence<\/strong>, in recognition of his scientific contribution to advancing innovation and research in Iraq[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery interval=&#8221;3&#8243; images=&#8221;8145&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Professor Dr. Abdullah Dhayea, faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering \u2013 College of Engineering \u2013 University of &#8230; <a class=\"cz_readmore\" href=\"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=8143\"><i class=\"fa fa-angle-left\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><span>\u0627\u0644\u0645\u0632\u064a\u062f<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":165,"featured_media":8144,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[7,4,36,67,50],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8143","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-constant-links","category-important-links","category-mechanical-engineering","category-sdg17","category-sustainability"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 -
