[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering held a research seminar for graduate students entitled:<\/p>\n

(Current and State for Research Topics on Electronics and Communications for Master Students)<\/strong><\/p>\n

at 9:30 AM on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Master’s student Mina Fadel presented her project (Physical Layer Key Generation Based on Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface). The seminar was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Aqeel Nima Zayan and Assistant Professor Dr. Aqeel Abdul Aziz Muhammad. The seminar was attended by a number of department professors and undergraduate and graduate students. The attendees enriched the seminar with a number of contributions and discussions, which concluded with the following results and recommendations:<\/p>\n

1- A recommendation to implement Beyond-Diagonal RIS (BD-RIS) technology in wireless networks to enhance the security of the physical layer due to its high ability to control and intelligently redirect electromagnetic waves, which weakens the ability of eavesdroppers to intercept Data.<\/p>\n

  1. 2. Use of Physical Layer Key Generation (PLKG) – Physical layer key generation should be adopted in 5G environments to reduce reliance on traditional encryption, especially in dynamic environments that offer wireless channel diversity.<\/li>\n
  2. 3. Verify key randomness using NIST tests – It is recommended to conduct NIST-approved randomness tests to ensure that generated keys have a high degree of randomness, making them difficult to predict or break.<\/li>\n
  3. 4. Improve system performance in low-variability indoor environments – It is recommended to combine BD-RIS with key generation techniques to improve key generation rates in static environments (such as offices), where the wireless channel is less random.<\/li>\n
  4. 5. Analyze performance under different conditions – The performance of BD-RIS technology should be evaluated in terms of confidentiality rate and throughput under different conditions, such as user density and channel coefficient.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
