On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad hosted a workshop organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The workshop focused on mechanisms for utilizing the potential of sponsored students and benefiting from the expertise they have gained in developed countries.<\/p>\n

The workshop was presented by Dr. Osama Ali Abdullah, Assistant Director of the Government Program Department at the Ministry, and Dr. Akram Nouri from the College of Science. It was attended by the Assistant Dean of the College of Engineering for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Diaa Jasim, along with a distinguished group of faculty members and department heads from various university divisions.<\/p>\n

The primary goal of the workshop was to highlight the Ministry’s plans for integrating sponsored students into educational and research institutions by appointing them to leadership positions within the Ministry and universities. The workshop also emphasized granting them the necessary authority to make decisions that contribute to the advancement of the higher education sector.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the workshop discussed the Ministry’s strategy to establish academic partnerships between Iraqi universities and prestigious international institutions. These collaborations aim to leverage cutting-edge technologies to address environmental challenges such as desertification and water scarcity, as well as tackle other technical issues.<\/p>\n

The event featured open discussions with sponsored students, where their opinions and suggestions were heard on how to effectively utilize their skills in higher education development and in addressing administrative, financial, and scientific challenges. Their proposals will be submitted to the relevant authorities at the Ministry.<\/p>\n

This workshop is part of the \u201cUtilizing the Potential of Sponsored Students\u201d program, a strategic initiative by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The program seeks to employ returning scholars in driving comprehensive development.
