[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The instructors of the Technical Construction course held their regular meeting with fourth-year students in the Documentation and Conservation Lab at the Department of Architecture, University of Baghdad. The meeting aimed to guide students in their project to create a comprehensive structural model of a multi-story tower that the students will design and innovate themselves.<\/p>\n

The project involves constructing a scale model at a 1:50 ratio, emphasizing the principles of internal and external structural support and considering structural factors to enhance the building’s ability to withstand various vertical and environmental loads, such as wind forces and earthquakes.<\/p>\n

The project is executed in two phases: The first phase includes creating the model under regular and direct supervision by the instructors in the Documentation and Conservation Lab. The second phase involves testing the structural performance of the model in the Earthquake Laboratory of the Department of Civil Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Haider Amer Al-Baghdadi, to evaluate its resistance and structural efficiency.<\/p>\n

The project aims to enhance students’ skills in applying advanced structural concepts and designing buildings capable of resisting different loads, as well as developing their structural and architectural intuition to achieve artistic and engineering integration in future projects during their academic studies and beyond.<\/p>\n

Learning Outcomes:<\/p>\n

1) Enable students to apply structural principles in designing highly efficient buildings capable of withstanding various loads (vertical, seismic, and wind).<\/p>\n

2) Enhance students’ analytical and critical capabilities in evaluating the structural performance of buildings through laboratory tests and practical experiments.<\/p>\n
