On Monday, December 30, 2024, Assistant Professor Dr. Fawzia Erheem Hussein participated in the discussion of a PhD dissertation by researcher Adel Kareem Hamel, titled \u201cThe Attractive Environment in the Architecture of School Buildings.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The dissertation explored a new perspective on school spaces, particularly primary schools, by incorporating design strategies from game designers. It proposed integrating architecture and games within a unified context to create architecturally stimulating learning environments that influence user behavior, making the building and its spaces more engaging and enjoyable.<\/p>\n Focusing on the Gamification Strategy, the research examined its theories, elements, objectives, and significance, offering a comprehensive understanding of gamification as a design strategy. The strategy aims to create attractive and enjoyable educational environments by applying game design elements in non-game contexts, encouraging learner engagement.<\/p>\n The research analyzed the components of games and their appealing characteristics, particularly spatial, formal, and design aspects, and how these elements can be used to enhance educational architecture. The goal was to create designs that motivate students to interact with the architectural space, ultimately achieving user satisfaction, encouraging repeated visits, and fostering a conducive learning environment.<\/p>\n Additionally, the dissertation assessed the current state of school building architecture in Iraq, identifying challenges faced by school buildings.
