Assistant Professor Dr. Fawzia Arheem Hussein, from the Department of Architecture at the University of Baghdad, participated in the discussion of a Master’s thesis presented by student Fatima Sadiq Shaker Ubaid, titled: “Integration of Historically Valuable Buildings within Their Urban Context (Khans in Baghdad as a Model).”<\/p>\n

The thesis focused on revitalizing historical sites, specifically Khans in Baghdad, by exploring how to establish integration between these structures and their urban context in both visual and functional aspects. The study aimed to create a theoretical framework based on integration and urban coherence, particularly regarding historical buildings, their characteristics, and their urban features.<\/p>\n

The thesis concluded that successful integration of historical buildings with their surroundings is achieved by enhancing the value of both the building and its urban environment while addressing issues that negatively impact them.<\/p>\n
