[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad witnessed the public discussion of the Doctor’s student (Abbas Amer Ghaleb) from the Civil Engineering Department on his dissertation entitled (Developing a Claim Management Model to Improve Construction Project Performance) on Thursday, 7\/11\/2024, in Dr. Khaled Shaker Hall. Under the supervision of (Asst.Prof. Dr. Mohammed Neamah Ahmed)<\/p>\n

The research aims to develop a system and software tool that can be utilized in managing, predicting and reporting the performance of claim and dispute resolution processes, such that claim and dispute management processes can be improved and intransigent disputes and resorting to litigation cases can be minimized.<\/p>\n

The results showed that ten predictors have greatest effects on the performance of claims and disputes resolution practices, involving (Owner Approval and Responsiveness, Contractor Experience with the Type of Work, Work Changes, Complexity of Work, Periodic Payment Delay, Presence of a Specialized Consultant, Owner Experience with the Type of Work, Priority of the Project for the Owner, Increase in Prices and Project Delay). The first seven factors contribute to more than (95%) of the whole importance. The stepwise procedure showed that the first six factors are the most statistically important predictors.<\/p>\n

Accordingly, the research came out with a set of recommendations, including the necessity to encourage project team members to identify early warning signs of problems and remove any fear or negative attitudes any member may have. In addition, it is recommended to employ a third partial experienced party to supervise construction processes and adopt early amicable approaches of claims settlement and disputes avoidance and resolution. Finally, it is preferred to employ a standby board in projects dedicated for identifying potential problems early and mediating or facilitating the processes of dispute avoidance and dispute resolution.<\/p>\n
