In celebration of International Human Rights Day, the College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad organized a virtual lecture on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, via Zoom. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Israa Abdul Ali Kazem, the coordinator of the Democracy and Human Rights Committee at the college.<\/p>\n

The lecture addressed various topics related to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10, 1948, emphasizing its importance as a comprehensive document protecting the fundamental rights of all individuals.<\/p>\n

Key articles of the Declaration were discussed, including civil and political rights, economic and social rights, and collective rights, alongside principles of human dignity and non-discrimination. The lecture highlighted the Declaration’s role as an international reference and standard for protecting rights and raising global awareness.<\/p>\n

Challenges to implementing the Declaration, such as armed conflicts and economic disparities between nations, were also examined, with an emphasis on adhering to noble human values.<\/p>\n

The lecture concluded by underlining the importance of promoting human rights awareness and reinforcing values of equality and justice.
