The College of Engineering at the University of Baghdad witnessed the public defense of master’s student (Mohammed Haider Taher) from the Department of Mechanical Engineering regarding his thesis titled (Thermal performance of an oscillating (Pulsating) heat pipe) on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in the hall of Professor Dr. Munther Al-Droubi in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.<\/p>\n

The discussion committee consisted of names listed below:<\/p>\n

1-Prof. Dr. Issam Mohammed Ali\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Chairman)<\/p>\n

2- Assist. Prof. Dr. Rasheed Nema\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0(Member)<\/p>\n

3-Assist. Prof. Dr. Hussein Togun\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Member)<\/p>\n

4-Assist. Prof. Dr. Wail Sami Wadee\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (Supervisor)<\/p>\n

Heat pipes that have the capacity to transmit a significant quantity of thermal energy across long distances. In the current study, combined numerical and experimental investigation to analyze the effect of key operational parameters, including (orientation, filling ratio, and heat flux) on the thermal performance of oscillating heat pipes. Numerical simulation is conducted utilizing the commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software ANSYS Fluent.\u00a0 Numerical simulation employing the volume of fluid (VOF) method is conducted to elucidate the temperature distribution and evaluate the thermal performance of the oscillating heat pipe.<\/p>\n

The thesis included recommendations including:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The investigation into the orientation of the closed-loop oscillating heat pipes significantly affects their heat transfer performance.<\/li>\n
  2. It is recommended to use the CL-OHPs installed vertically as they have clearly superior thermal performance..<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    After the scientific discussion by the members of the discussion committee, the researcher received a rating of (very good).<\/strong><\/p>\n
