It was conducted on Tuesday, 17\/9\/2024, in the Dr. Munther Al-Droubi’s Hall of the Mechanical Engineering Department.\u00a0 The discussion of the master’s thesis of the student Dhafar Fadhil Ali<\/strong>, which is tagged:<\/p>\n

\u201cThermal Characteristics of Jet Impingement Heat Transfer on a Flat Plate”<\/p>\n

The discussion committee consisted of names listed below:<\/p>\n

1- Asst. Prof. Dr. Luma Fadhil Ali (Chairman)<\/p>\n

2- Asst. Prof. Dr Mahmoud Shakir Mahmoud (Member)<\/p>\n

3- Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayser Muneer Flayh (Member)<\/p>\n

4- Asst. Prof. Dr. Sajida Lafta Ghashim (Supervisor)<\/p>\n

This thesis included studying the influence of the thickness of copper foam and pore density on heat transfer characteristics using ANSYS FLUENT package 2021R1. It used copper foams that have a porosity of 90%, thicknesses of 4, 8, 10, and 12 mm, and pore densities of 10, 20, 30, and 40 PPI for the numerical study, while copper foams with a thickness of 10 mm and pore densities of 10 and 40 PPI for the experimental study.<\/p>\n

The numerical results show that the local Nusselt number (Nu) and average Nusselt numberof a copper foam flat surface are higher than a smooth flat surface, regardless of the pore density and thickness of the copper foam.<\/p>\n

For the comparison between the experimental results and the numerical results, it is observed that the maximum deviation of Nu and \u00a0between the experimental and numerical results are 3.12% and 4.17%, respectively.<\/p>\n

According to the numerical data of the present study and previous studies, the numerical solution approach comparison for Nu and \u00a0 agrees with previous results of a maximum difference between them of 11% and 12%, respectively.<\/p>\n

The study concluded with recommendations including:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

1- The possibility of improving the Nusselt number of the flat plate using copper foam.<\/p>\n

2- Investigating the influence of slot-to-plate distance in the case of the smooth flat plate.<\/p>\n

3- Discussing the effect of copper foam thickness on the distribution of jet velocity and total pressure distribution.<\/p>\n
