Under the patronage of the respected Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdel Majeed, and the supervision of the Head of the Environmental Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Ayad Abdel Hamza Faisal, the Environmental Engineering Department held a workshop entitled:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cFires, their types and method of protection from them\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of the scientific activities of the Environmental Engineering Department a workshop was delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hussein Majeed Felaih, on Monday<\/strong> and Tuesday, <\/strong>15-16\/4\/2024<\/strong>, in the discussion room of the Environmental Engineering Department, in the presence of a number of college professors and undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Baghdad. The workshop included the following topics<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/strong>How to deal with fires<\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/strong>Classification of fires and methods of extinguishing them<\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/strong>Fire pyramid<\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/strong>Fire equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/strong>Fire protection methods<\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/strong>Automated fire extinguishing systems<\/strong><\/p>\n

– Fire emergency procedures\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The aim of the workshop was to introduce the types of fires and extinguishers, how to use them, and how to deal with fires and quickly work to extinguish them. The workshop came up with a set of recommendations, including<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/strong>Dealing with fires according to scientific methods based on one of the parties or organizations<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/strong>Fire prevention<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/strong>Assess fire risks and take appropriate measures to prevent them<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

– <\/strong>Design and equip alarm and firefighting organizations according to scientific standards<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

– Preparing firefighting systems according to the requirements of specific locations.<\/strong><\/p>\n
