On Sunday, March 3, 2024, the Architectural Engineering Department at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, organized an educational trip for both master’s students and faculty members. The destination was the historical city of Samarra, where participants had the opportunity to explore significant buildings and historical landmarks. The itinerary included visits to Samarra’s Grand Mosque and Malwiya, the Abu Dulaf Mosque and Malwiya, as well as Islamic historical sites such as the Khalifa Palace, Bab Al-Amma, and the palaces of Al-Barka and Al-Ashiq. Additionally, the group visited the shrines of the two Imams, Al-Askari.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the group were professors from the Department of Architectural Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Samarra, including Dr. Maysun Muhi Hala and Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah. They provided insights into the designs of these historic Islamic buildings, discussing the circumstances surrounding their inception and evolution.<\/p>\n

Prior to the visits, a meeting was held between the professors from the University of Baghdad and the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Samarra, Dr. Amjad Saleh Mahmoud, along with the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ali Oweid Habeib, and the Head of the Architectural Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Abdullah Hassan. The meeting focused on proposing future plans and collaborative activities between the two architectural departments, such as seminars, workshops, and exhibitions.<\/p>\n

The visiting team expressed gratitude to the Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Samarra for the warm reception and hospitality.
