The head of the scientific committee in the Department of Architecture, along with a group of master’s students, actively participated in the 5th electronic workshop titled “Urban and Architecture Heritage in Danger Workshop” on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. This workshop served as a complementary component of the Taziz Partnership – Short Measures 2023 program, conducted in collaboration with six universities: Brandenburg University of Technology in Germany, Cairo University, and Alexandria University in Egypt, University of Baghdad and Kurdistan University in Iraq, and the German Jordanian University in Jordan.<\/p>\n

Led by Dr. Ghada Alsilk, the academic research team from the Department of Architecture at the University of Baghdad, along with master’s students Ali Qadouri, Shahd Khaled, Hala Abduljabbar, and Mais Youssef, actively represented the department in this important workshop.<\/p>\n

The workshop’s primary focus was on issues related to architectural and urban heritage at risk. An open discussion session, held in Cairo, centered on the #Red_Path_Area. Students from various universities and different countries actively participated in the discussion, and participating groups were encouraged to review and highlight key findings and indicators from the field study. The emphasis was placed on the significance of these outcomes in shaping future studies in this area.<\/p>\n

During the workshop, suggestions were made to organize additional workshops on heritage preservation, particularly focusing on riverfronts. The discussions included ways to conserve, develop, and reactivate these areas. Recognizing the historical importance of rivers as essential arteries for civilizations in the Middle East and North Africa, the workshop underscored the continued relevance of activities and workshops addressing these crucial topics.<\/p>\n
