\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n The Associate professor from the Department of Surveying Engineering at the University of Baghdad, Associate professor Dr. Alaa Dawood Salman<\/strong>, participated as a member of the discussion committee for the doctoral thesis entitled \u201cDynamic Characteristics of Clay Soils Under Impact Load<\/strong>\u201d presented by the researcher Azad Hameed Rashid<\/strong> on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Baghdad. The examination committee may have consisted of:<\/p>\n The study summarized the dynamic response of the surface foundation system of clay soil in its natural and fully saturated state, in both solid and soft states, in addition to predicting the damping of clay soil under the effect of shock loads for a single impulsive load. A falling weight system was used on miniature models of circular foundations of different diameters and at different drop heights with certain weights of clay soil models to obtain the effective shock load energy. The response of the soil, which included displacement, velocity, and acceleration, was measured as a result of the effect of the shock load on the soil surface according to the foundation location or at different depths using this system, as well as the planting of sensors specified for work inside the soil to measure acceleration, in addition to sensors that measure the porous water pressure.
