A new meeting was held between the two national committees of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Program for Iraq and Syria.\u00a0 Prof. Dr. Riyad Zuhair Al-Zubaidi, the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Iraqi National Committee for the Intergovernmental Hydrological Program presented the most important problems facing water resources and the need for research cooperation to solve the\u00a0 scarcity problems in the water resources in Iraq, also he provided a summary of the important and continuous research cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Water Resources, in which he talked on the agreement of the joint cooperation mechanism between the two ministries for coordination and cooperation in the way of institutional integration and the need to review and develop it.<\/p>\n
The presentation also discussed on the basis for forming a committee to develop the operational plan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research within the framework of the intergovernmental hydrological program in its ninth phase, and the main topics will be targeted when developing the plan, which included the water crisis resulting from climate changes, means of limiting its impact, non-traditional sources of water, and the scarcity of water imports for common rivers. With neighboring countries, the qualitative deterioration of water and wasteful use of water, especially in the agricultural sector, awareness and perception, the outlook and behavior of society in dealing with water resources.<\/p>\n
