Prof. Dr. Dhirgham Muzhir Kareem Al-Obaidi, Dean of the College of Engineering, Al-Bayan University \u2014 Chair.<br \/>\nAssist. Prof. Dr. Mufeed Ihsan Shuk, Professor in the Department of Architecture, University of Technology \u2014 Member.<br \/>\nAssist. Prof. Hala Hussein Mousa, Professor in the Department of Architecture, University of Baghdad \u2014 Member.<br \/>\nAssist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Natiq Al-Shammaa, Professor in the Department of Architecture, University of Baghdad \u2014 Member and Supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>The thesis examined low-income housing projects in Baghdad by analyzing the relationship between the supply of investment-oriented housing and the actual housing demand of residents. The study aimed to identify the housing mismatch between the characteristics of the proposed projects and the economic, spatial, and service-related needs of the targeted groups.<\/p>\n<p>The study also sought to develop a spatial analytical framework based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to assess the suitability of housing projects according to a set of economic, spatial, and service-related indicators. This approach is intended to contribute to guiding housing policies toward more equitable solutions that are better aligned with the actual housing demand in Baghdad.<\/p>\n<p>The thesis concluded that the housing crisis is not solely a matter of insufficient numbers of housing units. Rather, it is also associated with the lack of alignment between available housing units and residents\u2019 economic capacities, their locations, and the level of services available in their surrounding areas.
