{"id":11724,"date":"2026-06-17T13:12:04","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T10:12:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=11724"},"modified":"2026-06-17T13:12:04","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T10:12:04","slug":"workshop-at-the-college-of-engineering-highlights-future-developments-in-computer-memory-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=11724","title":{"rendered":"Workshop at the College of Engineering Highlights Future Developments in Computer Memory Systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>As part of its efforts to keep pace with rapid advancements in computer science, the Department of Electrical Engineering at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a specialized workshop entitled <strong>\u201cThe Evolution of Memory in Computer Systems.\u201d<\/strong> The workshop was delivered by <strong>Dr. Farah Mahdi<\/strong> on Monday, May 25, 2026, in the department meeting hall, with the attendance of a number of faculty members and staff.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop aimed to enhance participants\u2019 understanding of recent developments in computer memory technologies and to highlight their role in improving the efficiency of computer systems and supporting modern applications.<\/p>\n<p>It addressed the concept of electronic memory and its importance in operating computer systems, while reviewing its evolution in terms of speed, capacity, and reliability. The workshop also explained the main types of memory, including primary, secondary, cache, and virtual memory, and clarified their operational mechanisms and contribution to system performance improvement.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, it discussed the differences between <strong>DRAM<\/strong> and <strong>SRAM<\/strong>, as well as the evolution of dynamic random-access memory from <strong>SDRAM<\/strong> to <strong>DDR5<\/strong>.
