{"id":11718,"date":"2026-06-17T12:59:59","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T09:59:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=11718"},"modified":"2026-06-17T12:59:59","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T09:59:59","slug":"chemical-engineering-department-at-the-university-of-baghdad-organizes-a-series-of-scientific-workshops-and-training-activities-to-enhance-quality-accreditation-and-advanced-technologies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.coeng.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=11718","title":{"rendered":"Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Baghdad Organizes a Series of Scientific Workshops and Training Activities to Enhance Quality, Accreditation, and Advanced Technologies"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, and the supervision of the Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Professor Dr. Rasha Habib Salman, the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a series of scientific workshops, training courses, and specialized activities during June 2026, aimed at enhancing academic quality, supporting accreditation requirements, and keeping pace with modern technological developments.<\/p>\n<p>The activities included a scientific workshop entitled <strong>\u201cHow to Manage Quality in Chemical Laboratories,\u201d<\/strong> delivered by a group of faculty members from the department. The workshop focused on strengthening quality management concepts in laboratories, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of experimental results, and reviewing the requirements of quality systems, laboratory safety procedures, and quality control mechanisms. It also addressed standard operating procedures documentation, laboratory equipment management, and the proper handling of chemical samples in accordance with internationally recognized standards, contributing to improved laboratory performance and research output.<\/p>\n<p>Another specialized workshop titled <strong>\u201cThe Required Components of the Course Portfolio for Engineering Accreditation\u201d<\/strong> was held on June 10, 2026. The workshop was delivered by <strong>Professor Dr. Ibtihal Karim Shaker<\/strong>, <strong>Assistant Lecturer Adhraa Wali<\/strong>, and <strong>Assistant Lecturer Zahraa Majeed Hameed<\/strong>. It focused on the principles and standards for preparing course portfolios, their role in documenting the teaching process, and their importance in fulfilling program accreditation requirements. The sessions also covered the organization of academic documentation, continuous assessment practices, and the development of curricula in line with engineering education quality standards. The workshop concluded with recommendations emphasizing the need for periodic updates of course portfolios, standardization of documentation templates, and strengthening coordination between faculty members and quality assurance committees.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the department organized a scientific training course titled <strong>\u201cNanotechnology: Concepts and Applications\u201d<\/strong>, delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Tariq Mohammed Nayef from June 9 to 11, 2026, at Dr. Mahmoud Omar Hall. The course introduced the fundamental concepts of nanotechnology, the unique properties of nanoscale materials, and their engineering and industrial applications. It also covered methods of nanomaterial synthesis, characterization techniques, and future research opportunities in the field. Special emphasis was placed on practical skills, including the selection of suitable nanomaterials for engineering problem-solving, scientific project development based on nanotechnology applications, and the use of advanced characterization tools such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).<\/p>\n<p>These activities reflect the Department of Chemical Engineering\u2019s ongoing commitment to improving educational quality, supporting engineering accreditation requirements, and promoting scientific research and innovation.
