Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Engineering at University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Ghassan Hamid Abdul Majeed, and under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Water Resources Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Amin Mohammed Saleh Amin, the Department of Water Resources Engineering, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Engineering, organized a scientific workshop entitled \u201cWater Harvesting as a Fundamental Pillar for Water Security in Arid Regions,\u201d as part of its scientific activities aimed at enhancing academic and professional awareness of water resources management issues.<\/p>\n

The workshop was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Ali Imran Mohsen, who discussed the concept of water harvesting and its importance in addressing water scarcity challenges. He also highlighted its role in achieving water sustainability through the utilization of rainwater and surface runoff for agricultural, domestic, and industrial uses, in addition to reviewing modern technologies used in managing and storing water resources in arid and semi-arid environments.<\/p>\n

The workshop also presented the main methods of water harvesting and their implementation mechanisms, while showcasing several practical models and field experiences applied in Iraq. It further emphasized the importance of regulating surface runoff and reducing water loss in order to improve the efficiency of utilizing available water resources.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the workshop, the lecturer stressed the importance of expanding the implementation of water harvesting projects in arid regions, strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and water-sector authorities, supporting specialized scientific research, and promoting public awareness about the importance of sustainable water resource management in addressing climate change and water scarcity challenges.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
