As part of its academic activities, the Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering, University of Baghdad<\/span><\/span>, organized a scientific workshop titled \u201cThe Dialectic Relationship Between Identity and Modernity in Architecture.\u201d<\/em> The event was supervised by a group of faculty members and attended by the Head of the Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Osama Abdulmunem, along with several professors and students.<\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to promote the concept of producing modern local architecture rooted in cultural heritage, expressing cultural identity within a contemporary framework, and achieving integration between authenticity and development in the design process.<\/p>\n

It addressed the issue of the decline of architectural identity in urban buildings and design, as a result of the rapid influences of modernity. The workshop also highlighted efforts to restore cultural and historical heritage as a fundamental reference for reclaiming lost architectural identity.<\/p>\n

In addition, it focused on the concept of regionalism and its intellectual trends, which call for balancing the requirements of identity and heritage with the demands of technology and modernity, contributing to the creation of a contemporary architectural vision that is more connected to place and people.<\/p>\n

The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of continuing such academic activities to support students\u2019 architectural awareness and enhance their ability to achieve a balance between local identity and the requirements of modernity in the design process.<\/p>\n
