Prof. Dr. Miqat Hassan Saleh, and Dr. Hasnain Abbas Hassan on <strong>Tuesday, March 31, 2026<\/strong>, at Dr. Mahmoud Omar Hall, with the attendance of faculty members and graduate students.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop covered several key topics, including an introduction to sustainable and green energy, the energy and water crisis in Iraq, the concept of salinity gradient energy, and the technology of Pressure Retarded Osmosis. It also addressed membrane types and separation technologies, draw solutions, factors affecting PRO system performance, as well as practical and experimental aspects with data analysis and discussion.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop highlighted the potential for generating clean and sustainable energy from the Tigris River using this technology. It emphasized its role in reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing negative environmental impacts, while also demonstrating how energy production can be integrated with water purification to support sustainability and modern development concepts.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including the adoption of renewable energy technologies\u2014especially PRO\u2014supporting scientific research and experimental studies to improve system efficiency, enhancing water quality through pre-treatment to protect membranes, and encouraging collaboration between academic and governmental institutions to expand the application of such technologies.
