The seminar was supervised and organized by Professor Dr. Ahmed Faeq Al-Alawi, a faculty member of the department.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar aimed to highlight crude oil as one of the world\u2019s most important energy sources by reviewing its molecular composition, classifying its components, and explaining the stages of refining and conversion into high-value derivatives. It also addressed its role in various industries and modern architectural applications within the framework of sustainability concepts.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar included two main themes. The first theme, titled <em>\u201cOil as an Architectural Material,\u201d<\/em> was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulhussein Al-Askari from the Department of Architecture, shedding light on the potential use of petroleum derivatives in modern construction.<\/p>\n<p>The second theme comprised several scientific topics presented by students from different specializations. Abbas Hamed Rahim from the Department of Chemical Engineering discussed <em>\u201cOil and Market Value,\u201d<\/em> while Mustafa Hussein Haddam from the Department of Petroleum Engineering at University of Karbala presented <em>\u201cThe Molecular Formation of Crude Oil.\u201d<\/em> Sajjad Jabbar from the Department of Chemical Engineering addressed <em>\u201cClassification of Crude Oil Components,\u201d<\/em> and Mohammed Ali Haddam discussed <em>\u201cStages of Crude Oil Refining and Its Industrial Applications.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The seminar concluded with a set of recommendations emphasizing the importance of developing refining technologies and improving the quality of petroleum products to enhance efficiency and reduce losses, while adhering to environmental pollution control standards and reducing industrial emissions.
