Electrical Engineering Department was established in 1950. So far, many thousands of Electrical engineers have graduated from this department. Graduates from this department can work in Iraq or abroad. Undergraduate students in this department attend a four year program which is equivalent to 160 credit hours to obtain a B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering. They also have field training in their specialization. <\/span><\/p>\n

Electrical Engineering offers a wide range of employment opportunities in different fields, including, but not limited to electrical power generation and distribution, installation, computer applications, IT, electronic circuit design and communication systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

Electrical Engineering Department also awards M.Sc. degree and Ph.D. degree in three disciplines: Power and Machines<\/span>,<\/span><\/span> Electronics and Communications and Computer and Control. The minimum period for the M.Sc. degree is 2 years and the period for the Ph.D. degree is 4 years.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Electrical Engineering Department aims to be recognized locally, regionally and internationally as a leading department providing high quality programs and services in electrical engineering fields.<\/p>\n

Mission:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Electrical Engineering Department contributes by its turn into the academic mission sought by the College of Engineering. In this regards, the department looks eagerly to prepare high quality graduates, who enjoy excellent background that combines between deep knowledge and basic skills. This makes the graduates capable of solving the problems of the different community sectors in the fields of communication and electronics, electric power and machinery and computer and systems engineering in addition to planting the basics of graduate professional ethics. The department aims also at preparing well post-graduate students (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) for coping with the vast developments in different electrical engineering fields.<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The faculty members, staff, and resources in the Department of Electrical Engineering work to meet the following program educational objectives :<\/p>\n

  1. To prepare students for successful and productive engineering careers, with emphasis on technical competency, and with attention to teamwork and effective communication.<\/li>\n
  2. To prepare students for the successful pursuit of graduate studies and for life-long learning in electrical engineering and related fields.<\/li>\n
  3. To endow the students with a sense of professionalism with encouragement of professional ethics, professional licensing, and active participation in the affairs of the profession.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The specific educational outcomes that \u00a0the students are \u00a0expected to derive from the electrical engineering programs are listed as follows :<\/p>\n

    1. The ability to apply knowledge of the physical sciences, mathematics, and engineering fundamentals to the solution of electrical engineering problems.<\/li>\n
    2. The ability to design and conduct experiments in electrical engineering, and to analyze and interpret the data generated by those experiments.<\/li>\n
    3. The ability to design components, devices, and systems to meet specific needs in electrical engineering.<\/li>\n
    4. The ability to understand the professional and ethical responsibilities incumbent upon the practicing electrical engineer.<\/li>\n
    5. The ability to recognize and respond to the need for life-long learning for a successful career in electrical engineering.<\/li>\n
    6. The ability to use the techniques, skills, and tools of modern engineering, including the use of modern computer-based technologies such as the writing of programs, the use of professional software, and the use of modern electronic media, effectively in the practice of electrical engineering.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
