\n

The foundation of the first nucleus of the College of Engineering at Baghdad University began as an annexed course under the Irrigation Directorate in 1921. This was the first step towards higher education in Iraq, as the country had no higher education institutions except for the Faculty of Law, which was established in 1908.<\/p>\n

Over time, the institution underwent multiple changes before officially establishing the College of Engineering in 1942, initially focused on civil engineering. Later, new scientific departments were opened, and the college was linked to Baghdad University and the Ministry of Higher Education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A course was opened under the Irrigation Directorate as an engineering school to train technical observers in irrigation, construction, and railways.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
